Energizing-Empowering-Educating Students Into Health Careers

Create Your Future!

One of CN-AHEC goals is to recruit, distribute, and maintain a high-quality healthcare workforce in Nebraska. Knowing that there is a critical need for more healthcare workers, CN-AHEC has developed activities to reach this goal throught the "Grow Your Own" approach. Listed below are examples of activities that encourage students to choose a career in healthcare.

  • Healthcare Careers Presentations

  • Healthcare Jeopardy Game

  • 7th Grade Behavioral Health Module

  • 8th Grade Science Meet

High School (9-12 Grades)

Healthcare Careers Presentations

  • Learn about professionals in all areas of healthcare careers.  Acquire present job-specific information and answer student questions on where to get training and what a day in the life of a healthcare worker entails.

Job Shadowing

  • Many hospitals in Central Nebraska AHEC's area currently offer job shadowing.  CN-AHEC can help facilitate job shadowing opportunities for students in this region.

Summer Health Career Camps

  • Exciting and educational hands-on opportunities for students to observe "up close personal" skills and education needed for a variety of healthcare careers; collaboration with schools, hospitals, and health departments provides information directly from the professionals.

Skeletal Models

  • Students study human anatomy through hands-on learning.  Plastic models of skeletons specially designed for use with clay are the foundation of the anatomy system.  Teachers and students are enthusiastic about using these skeletons in the classroom setting.
