About

About UsCentral Nebraska AHEC was the first AHEC center to open in Nebraska in 2001 and the first center to reach sustainability in 2007 with the dream of growing our own healthcare workforce.  CN-AHEC serves 27 hospitals of which 18 are critical access hospitals and five are classified as rural hospitals.

There are eight public health departments to serve the same 34 counties.  CN-AHEC works with two of the six Nebraska community colleges, one state university, and four private colleges.  There are 84 high public and private high schools throughout the 34 counties.  The majority of the high schools serve 2-3 feeder schools.

The CN-AHEC program connects students to careers, health professionals to communities and communities to better health.
